Bow & Bo: we were first to know

We’d never have guessed when we launched our business a decade ago that unearthing new or relatively unknown brands years before the likes of Selfridges and Harvey Nicks cottoned on would become one of our greatest joys. It is also one of the reasons we have such an engaged and loyal following.

I discovered our latest gem in Lockdown 1.0. Becky Bowyer, a fabulous fashion stylist who lives nearby and also shops with us, used to walk her dog Calvin (yes, of the Klein variety) past our windows every day when nowhere was open and there was nothing to do.

Noticing our weekly window changes and waving to the BWD team inside busily processing online orders, Becky asked to borrow some clothes to shoot for her @beckyfashionstylist Instagram page to help pass the time. Becky’s job styling for fashion shoots had stopped abruptly when we were all told to stay home.

Becky’s shots were AWESOME and we started to get huge numbers of likes for the looks she created on our own Instagram page.

Becky confided that she was soon to be launching a fashion brand, Bow & Bo, with her close friend, model Erin Borini. The concept centred around co-ordinating looks in super soft jersey fabrics that could be worn day in day out, be dressed up or down and stand the test of time. As well as launching a women’s collection, Becky and Erin were designing mini-me pieces for kids.

We shared 10 years’ experience of what makes a successful fashion brand with Becky and in return we became the brand’s first UK stockist. It was squeals all round!

Having spent hours deliberating styles and quantities with Becky, the whole BWD team, whose job it was to make the partnership a sales success, agreed to go for it BIG TIME buying every single style in every single size in significant quantities. There were to be no half measures.

Reasons to love the collection are many including the superior, hand-chosen fabrications; the considered designs that take into account the REAL female form and the fact that we are all made slightly differently; the capsule nature of the core pieces enabling you to buy just one item to refresh your wardrobe or an entire look. Top that off with extraordinary value for money, we promise you’ll love Bow & Bo as much as us!

The Gia sweatshirt is one of our favourites. Super slouchy and comfortable, its vintage look works with practically everything you already own. Pair it with jeans, (p)leather leggings or joggers (it looks spectacular with our Commando joggers), a midi-skirt from Set Fashion or over a midi-dress for total versatility. It washes beautifully (cool wash, inside out and iron on the reverse) so you can literally wear it `ON REPEAT’.

When the weather improves and we’re swapping long sleeves for short, you can reach for either the Gia short-sleeve tee or the Gia muscle tee. Both will become summer staples in your wardrobe, either tucked into jeans, shorts or skirts or worn out, loosely covering tum and bum when wearing skinny pants, leggings or denim cut-offs.

For effortless style, look no further than the Halle jogger and sweatshirt combo. In a slightly washed black, this organic cotton 2-piece is the dream if you’re searching for elevated loungewear that looks just as good on a night out with kitten-heeled sandals and dressy bag as it does on a casual brunch with the girls with dad sneakers and a leather jacket. The pants are high-waisted with a super-flattering split-flare at the ankle. Go for the longer-length option if you’re 5 ft 6 or taller, otherwise choose regular.

Halle 2-piece

The Halle sweatshirt will go with EVERYTHING you already own. It’s the perfect piece if you want to create a strong shoulder and a small waist. Sitting just above the hip bone, the fabric on the front blouses over to disguise any tummy insecurities you may have. Worn with the matching joggers, the Halle sweatshirt creates a flawless, elegant look that will take you through spring, summer, autumn and winter with a simple change of footwear and outerwear.
