New year, new you? We prefer the sound of new year, new Anine Bing Sport! We are thrilled that Anine Bing has ventured into athleisure, creating pieces to break a sweat in while working out and staying on-trend and ultra-cool.
Aptly named Anine Bing Sport, the Danish-born and Los Angeles-based designer is launching her first women’s sportswear collection. Since the Covid pandemic, many designers have embraced lesiurewear and loungewear but now more than ever we are moving into a time of active sportswear, whether you’re getting your endorphins in a workout or heading out for a coffee. This Sport collection is very in keeping with Anine Bing’s infamous aesthetic of modern design with monochromatic palettes and high-quality fabrics. Creating pieces from cycling shorts, to oversized sweatshirts Anine Bing Sport is a range that caters to every lifestyle whether you’re a gym bunny or prefer to step out in sports-casual.
When creating the collection, Anine Bing was inspired by 90’s paparazzi shots of the late Princess Diana. The iconic images showing the people’s princess wearing oversized sweatshirts with cycling shorts and chunky sneakers, inspired the range and its reflected perfectly in timeless pieces. “She had the best style, I think, and was so good at mixing elements” said Bing. Pair the Blake Bike Shorts in either Black or Pacific Blue with the Ramona Sweatshirt University AB in Grey to get the inspired-look. Complete the look with Golden Goose baseball-inspired hi-top Sky Star Sneakers in White & Black.
“I also enjoyed designing from a mental health point of view… to boost women’s confidence. I feel now is the time we all need to take care of ourselves and work out,” said Anine Bing. We couldn’t agree more, seeing in the new year has inspired us all to move our bodies more and feel good about ourselves. The collection is very versatile, there are pieces for low-impact workouts and others with high-compression that would support a high-impact workout perfectly. The Brett Tank in Black with White Stripe paired with the Blake Legging in Black with White Stripe make the ideal monochromatic match for working out and will keep you sucked in and supported (whilst co-ordinated and cool). If you prefer to dress up then add some barely-there heels and oversized blazer for a comfy-yet-chic evening look. For a low-impact workout opt for the Kameron Pant in Black with White Stripe and the Devin Jacket in Black with White Stripe, this matching look will have you both gym-ready and looking stand-out on a shopping spree.
