Essentiel Antwerp Kriss Striped Tee Shirt in Black

A striped T-shirt. Then Essentiel added ruching and a gold brooch because apparently a striped T-shirt wasn’t trying hard enough.

The Essentiel Antwerp Kriss Striped Tee Shirt in Black is an oversized women’s black and off-white striped T-shirt, made from a soft, lightweight 95% viscose and 5% elastane blend. It has dropped shoulders, wide short sleeves and a relaxed silhouette, with gathered detailing at the side held by a statement brooch.

This is exactly the sort of BWD piece we love: as easy to wear as your favourite tee, but interesting enough to make the outfit look like you actually thought about it.

How to wear the Kriss Striped Tee

Blue denim, loafers and a black bag. Honestly, it doesn’t need much more.

We’d also put it with the Essentiel Antwerp Kudzu ¾ Length Leggings in Black and ballet flats for a more directional silhouette, or tuck it loosely into wide-leg black trousers and add trainers.

And it would look brilliant underneath the Kugar Contrast Cardigan in Black—stripes on top of contrast trim sounds like it shouldn’t work, which is usually a good indication that it will.

What do you wear with a black striped oversized T-shirt? Blue denim is the easiest answer, but black trousers, cream denim and grey tailoring all work. Because the Kriss already has a statement brooch and gathered detail, we’d keep everything else relatively uncomplicated.

A BWD note on Essentiel sizing: Essentiel Antwerp is known for its oversized silhouettes, so don’t get too hung up on the number on the label. In its deliberately oversized styles, a nominal UK 4 can often work on someone who would usually wear a UK 8. The Kriss is intentionally oversized, so sizing down is definitely worth considering if you prefer a neater silhouette.
