The Samsøe Samsøe Alexo Tank Vest in Black is a women’s slim-fitting ribbed tank top made from soft, stretchy organic cotton jersey. With its higher round neckline, wide shoulder straps and clean fitted silhouette, it’s one of those deceptively simple wardrobe pieces you’ll wear alone, underneath shirts, with tailoring and layered under knitwear.

How to wear the Alexo Tank

Our first choice is ridiculously simple: blue barrel-leg jeans, Alexo, belt, loafers. Add an oversized blazer if required.

Wear it underneath an open white or striped shirt when you want the shirt to act more like a jacket, or tuck it into wide-leg grey tailoring for a cleaner look.

It’s also particularly useful underneath chunkier knitwear when you want an extra layer without adding extra bulk.

What do you wear with a black tank top? Pretty much your entire wardrobe. Denim makes it casual, tailoring makes it polished, cream gives you contrast and chocolate brown with black remains one of our favourite combinations.

This isn’t really a styling challenge. That’s rather the beauty of it.

Fit & measurement

The Alexo is designed for a slim, body-skimming fit with plenty of stretch. Stay close to your usual size for the intended fitted silhouette, or size up if you prefer a little more ease.

The model is 179cm / approx. 5’10½” and wears a size S.

Care

Machine wash at 30°C with similar colours. We’d avoid tumble drying and reshape before air drying to help keep that neat fitted shape.

Possibly the least glamorous thing on the rail. Almost certainly one of the things you’ll wear the most. Funny how wardrobes work.
