Essentiel Antwerp Kashba Patchwork Jeans in Midnight Wave Blue

Because apparently even blue jeans can be a bit more interesting. Essentiel has seen to that.

The Essentiel Antwerp Kashba Patchwork Jeans in Midnight Wave Blue are women’s high-rise barrel-leg jeans made from midweight cotton denim, with contrasting dark-blue patchwork panels and raw-edged detailing. The curved seams, twisted outer leg and cropped shape give them that slightly sculptural silhouette that makes a simple pair of jeans suddenly look very considered.

Why they made the cut

• They’re 100% cotton, so you get that proper structured denim feel rather than a stretchy jegging situation. Thank goodness.

How to wear the Kashba Jeans

This is where we’d keep things simple.

Wear them with the Klaim Tee Shirt with Chain in Off White and loafers and you’ve got a brilliant everyday outfit. The chain gives you detail on top while the patchwork does the work below.

The Kort Tee in Charcoal Grey would be equally good, particularly with a brown belt and a boxy jacket.

Or go oversized with the Kreative Shirt in White. Half tuck it, add a loafer or sleek trainer and let the proportions do their thing.

What do you wear with patchwork barrel-leg jeans? Something uncomplicated. White, cream, charcoal, navy, chocolate brown and black all work with Midnight Wave Blue. A simple tee, fine knit or oversized shirt lets the unusual denim shape be the interesting bit.

Basically: complicated jeans, uncomplicated top.

The Kashba is designed for a relaxed, oversized fit, sitting high on the waist before curving into a barrel leg and finishing at a cropped length. The model shown is 5’10” and wears a size 27.

These are sized in traditional denim waist sizes rather than Essentiel Antwerp’s usual 32–44 clothing sizing.

Care

Machine wash at 30°C, avoid tumble drying and iron on a medium heat. We’d wash them inside out and only when they actually need it — good denim really doesn’t require quite as much attention as the washing machine would have you believe.

We already had blue jeans. Then Essentiel added patchwork, twisted seams and a barrel leg. Apparently we needed another pair.
