At BWD we buy 6 months in advance so we are well placed to know what will work and what won’t, what will be a one season wonder and what will be a lasting investment. Here are 5 wearable trends we’ll be backing this year.
The suit is everything. Oversized and masculine or tailored and feminine, a co-ordinating 2-piece will soon become your best friend for a casual lunch with the girls or a dinner date with your partner. Go for a super strong shoulder, sleeves long enough to be rolled up to show your delicate wrists and arm candy and choose pants with side pockets for nonchalant posing opportunities.
Combat pants are here to stay. Keep them relaxed on the waist, don’t go too heavy on the side patch pockets (they can make you look bigger than you actually are), pair with a fitted top to balance out the silhouette and finish with your favourite chunky trainer.
Silky satins and silks, cosy cashmere and chenille, snuggly sweaters and socks: it’s all about putting luxury back into lounging this winter. Invest in the best you can afford, it’ll be worth it, and mix your top tier textures for maximum polish and pleasure.
Straight-legged cropped jeans, slogan-print sweatshirts, co-ordinating socks, beanie hats and Diadora Heritage trainers are the vibe here. Think under-grad student with a hint of hip-hop thrown in and you’ll be bang on!
After years of the hoodie and sweatshirt taking precedence over our classic winter warmer, be under no illusion that this year the wooly jumper is BACK. Skinny, slouchy, cropped or oversized, any shapes goes. Choose your composition carefully to avoid pilling and always wash with kid gloves. No-one wants yo shrink a brand new knit do they?
